In terms of submitting the work – the following instructions apply to CMC candidates (not those that are detailed on the CIPR study website in respect of naming your files, hard copy and cover sheet which we do not require).
Check the following steps very carefully – and follow them precisely:
- You are required to submit your work by email only to Heather Yaxley to arrive by 5pm on the stated deadline. Receipt of your work will be confirmed by email when all submissions have been collated (please do not chase on this).
- You are NOT required to submit a hard copy – but this must be available if requested for any reason – we do not expect to have to make this request but it is a possibility.
- Work should be submitted as pdf files (Note: for CRT this means a separate pdf for each answer; for the planning assignment all elements need to be within a single document) – this is preferable to Word documents which can result in some odd formatting when emailed. If you are not able to save a pdf, please advise Heather who will accept Word files and resave as pdfs for the marker but cannot take responsibility for sorting any formatting issues out.
- Please ensure that your pdf files are of a reasonable size – if you find they are over 2Mb, please check if you’ve included any tables, images etc and reduce their size (right click on an image and compress all images in the document). Large files often create email problems, so are best avoided.
- Each answer should be saved with a filename in the format of your membership number – and in the case of the CRT, the question number as follows: xxxxx-2 (where xxxxx is your membership number and 2 here is illustrative of question 2). That means you need to attach two files to your email submission, one for each answer. For example: 59193-1.pdf and 59193-4.pdf. For the planning assignment – use xxxxx-plan.pdf. Do not include your name, or anything else as we use this simple numbering system for ease of filing and reference. [Although CIPR has a more complicated preferred system, CMC has cleared so you use this simpler format and we will send to the external any requested work for moderation using the CIPR system]
- Please use the title of CRT/Planning/Critique submission (as appropriate) for your email as that means all candidates’ emails can be easily filed for future reference.
- You are NOT required to send a cover sheet with your email but should indicate clearly in the accompanying email the following statement: I certify that the work presented in this assessment is wholly my own. For the CRT, also include which two question numbers you have answered.
- The first version you send will be the one forwarded to the marker for assessment – we cannot accept any changes if you subsequently discover you’ve left off some vital element of your work, check before you hit send!!
- Remember to identify your actual work only by your membership number as a header and not your name as work is sent anonymously to the markers for their assessment.
- You are also required to include the word count (excluding references) – Word can calculate this for you (Under Tools Word Count).
Please contact Heather Yaxley if you have any questions in respect of these instructions.
